Summer's here and the time is right for some serious power auto racing at PIR. Not since 1986 has the NASCAR Camping World West (better known as Winston West) series come to our city's road racing track, and now they're back with an exciting lineup for this weekend's Bi-Mart Salute to the Troops 125.
One of the reasons going to a game is more exciting than watching it on TV is that there is a kind of energy created when so many people get together and root for one cause. You might even liken it to a mob mentality. We don't have to look farther than our own stadiums where pandemonium has broken out in protest to a call or in celebration of a win. Sports strongly appeals to the gaming and struggle instincts of humans.
Each May, Towson also holds the highly popular TowsonTown Spring Festival. This fun-filled extravaganza will take place on May 2 and 3 and will be celebrating its 42nd consecutive year. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, various sponsors will head venues all around the surrounding Towson town. A Beer Garden will be sponsored by 98 Rock, the Plaza Garden Stage is where you'll find 100.7 The Bay, a Children's Stage will be sponsored by M&T and PNC Banks and ABC 2 News will sponsor a racing comms area. Activities will include: magic shows, a moon bounce, pony rides, carnival games, a petting zoo, hoola hoop contests and robot/machine interaction events.
Many menfolk enjoy the game of golf. That's an idea that will undoubtedly hit NASCAR racing a proverbial hole-in-one with those that have a passion for that particular pastime. That idea might be a winner but there are many other guy presents to consider.

Third place in the third race of the Chase went to Kevin Harvick, with Stewart finishing fourth, his seventh top-10 finish at Kansas in 10 races there, and Johnson's Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Jeff Gordon, taking fifth after a fierce battle with Edwards.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence has signed on to star in a remake of "East of Eden." And rumors are still flying about who will star in the sequel to "Independence Day." One thing is certain is that the film will happen.
